Development of Thin-Film All-Solid-State Batteries

Thin-film Li-ion batteries are thinner and lighter than conventional Li-ion batteries, making them suitable for a variety of applications. In particular, next-generation IoT devices and compact sensors for medical applications require autonomous operation without recharging, so we believe it is important not only to make thin-film batteries but also to integrate them with other functions.

Thin-film Li-ion batteries also have the advantages of high energy density, short charging time, and long lifetime. These advantages allow for deployment in areas where ultra-high-performance electrical energy storage is needed as well as in compact devices.

We are fabricating oxide thin films with new structures and functions by using various thin film fabrication techniques that allow us to control the structure and composition of thin films at the atomic level.
